A geometric sans-serif typeface is called Handel Gothic Font. Saul Bass’s graphic designer, Donald J. Handel (1936-2002), who created the typeface, did so in 1965.
Handel Gothic gained popularity right away after its initial release. The typeface was first offered in film format by FotoStar and was reprinted by Robert Trogman in the 1980s.
The versions used by Elsner+Flake, Linotype, and URW++ have an uppercase R with a curved leg similar to Helvetica’s, an uppercase Q with a horizontal tail similar to Univers’s, a lowercase k with a curved lower leg, and a lowercase w with a trident-like shape.
A similar font of this typeface quostige sans serif font. However, the Bitstream and Tilde SIA versions employ a thicker 1, an uppercase R with a straight leg (similar to Akzidenz-Grotesk), a lowercase k with a straight lower leg, and a double-v w.
The Simian Display typeface was created by Christian Schwartz using OpenType features and drawing inspiration from the Handel Gothic typeface.
